Through eighty-three photographs taken across the country, Frank unveiled an America that had gone previously unacknowledged--confronting its people with an underbelly of racial inequality, corruption and injustice, and the stark reality of the American Dream. Frank's point of view--at once startling and tenacious--is imbued with humanity and lyricism, painting a poignant and incomparable portrait of the nation at a turning point in history. This edition of The Americans is a celebrated return of an iconic title to Aperture's catalog, more than a half-century after the Aperture and Museum of Modern Art edition was published in 1968. Presented on the centennial of Frank's birth and a major exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, it has been produced following the finest tritone printing from the 2008 edition for which Frank was personally involved in every step of the design and production. Frank's exacting vision, distinct style, and poetic insight changed the course of twentieth-century photography, and influenced subsequent generations of photographers, including Lee Friedlander, Nan Goldin, Danny Lyon, Joel Meyerowitz, Ed Ruscha, and Garry Winogrand. Now extolled as one of the most groundbreaking photobooks of all time, The Americans remains as powerful and provocative as it was upon publication and continues to resonate with audiences today.
Robert Frank","Jack Kerouac
6000000","6070000","6070200","6070205
Black Country Stories has taken Martin across the region visiting markets, temples, factories, foundries, social clubs, tea dances, dog training classes, summer fetes and many, many other place. This trend was fueled by widespread enthusiasm in Western countries for the same phenomena. The topic quickly captured the Chinese popular imagination, with scientists descending on mountainous areas of Hubei province to investigate reported sightings of a strange being called the Wildman or "Yeren" in Chinese. Officially sponsored research, followed by stories from amateur enthusiasts, sparked a nationwide phenomenon called Wildman Fever that would last for decades. Wildman Fever tells the story of this search that led a nation into a wilderness of fact and fiction. A singular voice in contemporary photography, Lawson has been investigating and challenging conventional representations of black identities in the African American and African diaspora for over fifteen years. Her work samples numerous photographic languages, including the family album, studio portraiture, staged tableaux, documentary pictures, and found images, creating narratives of family, love, and desire. Lawson's photographs are made in collaboration with her subjects, who are sometimes nude, embracing, and directly confronting the camera, destabilizing the notion of photography as a passively voyeuristic medium. Whether in posed photographs or assembled collages, Lawson's works channel broader ideas about personal and social histories of black life, love, sexuality, family, and spiritual beliefs. From his earliest years at Harper's Bazaar and Vogue through to the twenty-first century, Avedon routinely and audaciously broke the rule of flattering public personalities in his portraits. Instead, he chose to highlight the onslaught of what he called the «avalanche of age,» dramatizing the universal experience of getting older.

Accompanying a groundbreaking exhibition at The Image Centre at Toronto Metropolitan University and The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Immortal is the first book to delve into Avedon's unflinching representation of aging throughout his career.

This elegant hardcover volume features nearly 100 portraits of cultural luminaries, each printed in striking tritone, such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Truman Capote, Marcel Duchamp, Duke Ellington, Toni Morrison, Patti Smith, and Stephen Sondheim, as well as one of Avedon's last self-portraits. Texts by a star-studded cohort of authors, including Vince Aletti, Adam Gopnik, Paul Roth, and Gaëlle Morel, shed new light on an under-represented element of Avedon's practice.

Thoughtfully edited and beautifully produced, Immortal testifies emphatically to the determination with which people confront the relentless advance of mortality.
Paul Roth","Vince Aletti","Gaëlle Morel","Richard Avedon","Adam Gopnik
6000000","6070000","6070200","6070205
The Dailies collects snapshots of a world unmistakably our own yet equally strange.
